00. A brand still finding its voice
Trusted on set. Unnamed off it.
CineArk equips some of the biggest productions in the world, yet its own brand couldn't keep up with its reputation. I built the one that could, from strategy to identity.

DELIVERABLE
48 page brand playbook, V1.0
01. The Project
A reputation that ran ahead of its brand.
THE COMPANY
Founded in 2016 by three on set technicians, CineArk grew into one of the UK's most trusted names in remote production, supplying DIT and data, video, VFX, comms, RF and location internet to sets where nothing is allowed to fail. Its kit and crew show up on productions like Dune: Part Two, Gladiator II, Wicked and Andor, working alongside Marvel, Netflix, Disney, Warner Bros and Amazon. The reputation was earned. The brand hadn't caught up.
THE CHALLENGE
CineArk was known and respected, but its brand told the story unevenly. The voice shifted between the website and social, and the public presentation didn't match the standing it had among crews. The job was to turn hard won technical credibility into one brand: a single strategy, voice and visual system that decision makers from unit production managers to directors of photography would recognise instantly, and that anyone on the team could use without breaking it.
02. The System
One source of truth, built so the brand never drifts.

03. Deliverables
From the strategy down to the last hex code.
01
Brand Strategy
Purpose, vision, mission and six core values, written to be lived rather than filed. The spine everything else hangs from.
02
Audience and personas
Two buyer personas, a freelance on set technician and a unit production manager, mapping goals, motivations and media, so the brand knows exactly who it speaks to and how.
03
Positioning and value proposition
A value framework built on four pillars and a single positioning statement that moves CineArk from equipment provider to essential creative partner.
04
Messaging and tone of voice
A core message, Technical Excellence Enabling Creative Freedom, plus four message pillars and a tone that stays technical but accessible, confident but humble.
05
Brand archetypes
The Hero and the Creator, each with voice, core drives and application notes. The personality that keeps copy consistent no matter who writes it.
06
Visual identity
Combination mark, colour system, typography (Brown, with Arial as the system fallback) and photography direction. The face of everything above.
Color pallette and proportion ratio.
04. The Mark
One arc, three readings.
The combination mark sets the wordmark under a single arc. That arc carries three ideas at once, without stating any of them outright.
Ark. A safe, reliable enclosure for a production's most valuable material. Horizon. The journey of turning ordinary footage into cinematic moments. Lens. A quiet nod to the camera itself.
One shape, engineered to hold all three. Two variations, navy on light and light on navy, keep it flexible across platforms without losing the meaning.
The palette follows the same discipline. A system led by blue, anchored by CineArk Navy and lifted by Cerulean and Moonstone to signal stability and trust, with a single Vermilion accent for energy. Everything sits on a 60/30/10 ratio, so the brand stays calm and never shouts.
05. Process
From audit to playbook.
Discovery and Audit
Read the existing brand against the way crews actually talk about CineArk, and named the gap between reputation and presentation.
Strategy First
Strategy First
Set purpose, vision, mission and values before anything visual, so every later decision had something to answer to.
Audience and archetypes
Audience and archetypes
Built the personas and chose the Hero and Creator to give the brand a consistent, ownable personality.
Messaging
Wrote the core message, pillars and tone rules in language the whole team could follow and reuse.
Identity
Designed the mark, palette, type and photography direction as one coherent system rather than a set of parts.
Playbook
Packaged all of it into a 48 page guide built to hold the brand together across three markets and every team that touches it.
06. Outcome
One brief, every discipline.
"A reputation you can't describe isn't a brand yet. The job was to give CineArk one voice, disciplined enough to hold together no matter who's using it."
